About the Project
This project is a collaboration between the University of Leeds, Migration Yorkshire and Migrant English Support Hub.The information included on this website has been produced and curated by the team involved in the Impact Acceleration Account: Gabriella Alberti, Isaac Brewer, Ewa Lelonkto, Amanda Middlecote, Angela Palmer, Jane Williamson and John Zavos.
The wider project is entitled “Bridging the gap between employers and migrant workers: co-creating the Yorkshire & Humber Employer Engagement Platform” and has been funded by the University of Leeds (2025-26) with contributions from Migration Yorkshire and the Migrant English Support Hub.
The resources presented in this website draw from years of research and collaborations among the team members as well as experience in the field of migrant and refugee employment developed separately by the team members. It also draw from findings and discussions conducted as part of the Impact research “Bridging the gap between employers and migrant workers”. Several stakeholders across industry, third sector, and local authorities in Yorkshire and the Humber and across the UK have contributed to the co-design of this platform and we are very grateful for their input and support. Who are we?
The project lead, Gabriella Alberti, is Professor of International Labour Migration at Leeds University Business School. She has recently concluded research on migration and labour shortages post Brexit and Covid-19 (for more details see Labour Mobility in Transition).
Migration Yorkshire is a local authority-led partnership which works across the whole of the Y&H region focusing on supporting refugees and migrants including in accessing employment.
Migrant English Support Hub (MESH) is a charity dedicated to supporting adult migrant language learners in the Y&H region. It has developed specific expertise and agendas around refugee employability and training.
